New Research Report--Moving Toward Citizenship...the first research study of Individualized Funding projects in Ontario has been completed and submitted to the Ministry of Community and Social Services, April 7, 2006. The research to date on the effectiveness of new paradigm approaches has been quite positive. Studies show that costs for individualized funding are usually comparable — costs are similar to conventional supports, but quality of life outcomes are usually much better with individualized funding. Recent research suggests that the emphasis on self-determination in new paradigm projects is one reason for positive outcomes.

four_grassroots_groups_present_a_"common VISION"_for_REAL_TRANSFORMATION_of developmental services in ontario
The Individualized Funding Coalition for Ontario has recently collaborated with People First of Ontario, Family Alliance Ontario, and the Special Services at Home Provincial Coalition. In a series of meetings, the four groups worked together to identify a common vision and principles regarding the transformation of developmental services in Ontario. These commonalities among the four organizations will help build a New Story for people with disabilities in Ontario: A good life for people with disabilities as citizens within our communities.
‘Common Vision for Real Transformation’ is a two-part newsletter. It identifies the principles and directions necessary to transform developmental services. This newsletter was recently presented to the Ministry of Community and Social Services and the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. This newsletter can also be used to help Ontarians respond to the public consultations on the MCSS Transformation policy blueprint which is expected to be made available for public input sometime in the coming months. “Common Vision for Real Transformation” is now available on the IFCO website.
